  • Looking back over the 2011 Road Season

Posted on December 10, 2011 by Tim Akers

Twitter is a buzz right now with different riders planning out the 2012 road season.  It may seem far away however it sneaks up quick, the road season will be in full swing in under 4 months and some of us are still racing cross into mid-December.  In between team emails asking about goals for the 2012 road campaign and contacting sponsors I thought back to the success of this past year.

Overall the team had 36 top 10 finishes, 9 podiums, and 2 wins including the New York State Criterium Championships, not bad for a second year shop team with under 10 guys on it huh?  See the goal of this team was to field a pretty strong Cat 3 team and we are getting there, slowly but surly as we have brought a few guys through the ranks into the 3's this past year and hope to bring on a few more.

  • Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted on November 24, 2011 by Tim Akers

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday here in America because it really is about one thing, family, however one defines that word.  My plan this week was to head back to the homeland, Buffalo, to see my two sisters, brother, parents, what feels like 9 dogs & 14 cats, and my brothers fiance and sisters boyfriend.  However a nice little stomach bug decided to get in the way of these plans as I am spending my first Thanksgiving away from family, on my couch, watching Animal Planet.  On that note have you ever wished you were an otter? Would be my animal of choice.

Sitting here surround by my family of bikes, surfing through twitter, and catching up on google reader I came across this amazing video over on 303Cycling.com which I must say was pretty well done and shares just an awesome message, bikes rock.

    Spezialized CruX

    2012 Specialized CruX

You have good days and bad days, good weeks and bad week.  This week was pretty crummy for a number of reasons until everything started to turn in my favor when I heard word that the 2012 Specialized CruX had arrived.  Wisely I showed up to the shop a little later then I typically would so the other guys started putting the bike together and got all the internal routing already set for me.  After finishing up the build we went off for a night ride with headlamps and bike lights duct taped to the handlebars (hi tech stuff here).  Later in the week I headed down to a NYCross.com series event to further test this new ride out.

  • A photo essay of me.

Posted on November 10, 2011 by Tim Akers

How can I describe who I am?  I sat here tonight starting to write, deleting my thoughts, and starting over repeatably.  I had my pictures that I wanted to share about myself and my severe cycling problem but couldn't come up with the words and decided to let the pictures speak for themselves.

A ride around Lake Casitas, north of Ventura, CA, an amazing ride.
